IDS Project Annual Conference for 2015 (July 29 through July 31)

The IDS Project's 11th Annual Summer Conference is Thursday, July 30th, and Friday, July 31st at the Hilton Garden Inn Watertown. This year's conference theme is “Navigating the Rivers of Data Driven Productivity.” Approximately 200 attendees are expected.

This year's conference is packed with information and training regarding exciting new technologies and strategies for information access, resource sharing and acquisitions/collection development. Session tracks include ILL/DD; Technology; Collection Development; and Administration. You can choose to follow an entire track or choose individual sessions from across each track.

Conference Overview


Two-Day Conference Registration:

Registration Fee: $175

Keynote Speaker: Lars Leon

Lars Leon is the Head of Resource Sharing with some additional staff development and assessment responsibilities at the University of Kansas Libraries. His research and service interests focus on looking at how we can provide best service possible in an efficient manner. This has led to research from interlibrary loan group best practices to staff development and value of services provided.

He recently completed a resource sharing cost study with Nancy Kress, North Carolina State University, which can be found at https://hdl.handle.net/1808/9655 His research continues looking in more detail at critical areas identified in this work. He has given a variety of presentations and workshops that has taken him everywhere from Kansas to Stockholm, Reykjavik, and Bulgaria. He has enjoyed presenting in all venues including the Colorado ILL Conference, Northwest ILL and Resource Sharing Conference, Texas, Chicago, and more.

All-Region User Group Meeting

The All-Region User Group session is separate from the Pre-Conference. This session is free for all IDS Project members. More information on registering for the All-Region User Group will be available soon. Attendees planning on attending the All-Region User Group Meeting should not register for the Pre-Conference described below.

Pre-Conference Overview

The first session on ILLiad Webpages will include modifying and enhancing your ILLiad webpages to work best for your library. Having IT experience will help though it isn't required. The second session on ILLiad Addons will be a programming session that will go over the basics of the programming language Lua, the ILLiad Client, and how to create your own Client Addons. If you have some programming knowledge, then the session will be easier to understand, but it is not a requirement. Attendees are expected to bring their own laptop with a connection to a live instance of ILLiad.

Registration Fee: $100
Attendance Capped at 15 seats

Pre-Conference Registration includes the following:

  • Modifying ILLiad Webpages (9:00am-12:00pm)
  • Lunch (12:00pm-1:00pm)
  • How to Create ILLiad Client Addons (1:00pm-4:00pm)
